Set up attendee self-service ticket changes

When you use Eventbrite Payment Processing for paid-and-public events, you can allow attendees to change their registration to a different ticket type or event. To get started, go to your event dashboard and select Ticket changes (under Order Options).

To qualify for self-service ticket changes, your event must meet the following requirements.

  • The event is not a reserved seating event.

  • The event is public.

  • The event hasn’t started yet.

  • If the event is a paid event, it uses Eventbrite Payment Processing.

  • If changing from one event to another, there must be enough funds in the original event to cover the ticket price.

Also, tickets must meeting the following requirements:

  • The attendee transferring the ticket must be the original buyer.

  • If the ticket was a paid ticket, the attendees must have used a debit or credit card.

  • The minimum tickets per order must be set to "1" in your ticket settings.

  • The ticket isn't already checked in.

If the new ticket price is higher than the original ticket they purchased, buyers will be charged the difference. If the new ticket pricer is lower, the buyer won't be refunded automatically, and you’ll need to process a partial refund for the difference.

Steps to set up self-service ticket changes

1. Go to your event dashboard.

Sign in to your Eventbrite account and go to Events . Then select your event.

2. Select “Ticket changes” (under “Order Options”).

3. Choose your ticket change settings.

Select the option you want to enable:

  • Change ticket type or seat: Attendees can change their ticket types to another one available for the same vent.

  • Update event date, time, or transfer ticket to one of your other events: Attendees can change their ticket to a different date or another event that also has self-service ticket changes.

Then, select whether you want these settings to apply to all ticket types or specific ticket types.

If you choose to customize settings for individual ticket types, select Allow next to the ticket types you want eligible for ticket changes. For ticket you don't want changed, select Don't allow.

4. Save your changes.

Your changes will apply immediately.
