J D Swann - Birds & the Bees Walks Thamesmead
J D Swann is an ornithological investigator, encouraging collective experiences of the natural world. The Birds & the Bees walks (2024) are supported through the Making Space for Nature Community Fund. In 2023 were public walks on Crossness Marshes and sketch observation walks at Greenwich Peninsula Ecology Park and the Thamesmead Festival. In 2022 he led Three Walks for Three Rivers in Slade Green and Erith and devised Food for Feathered Friends an interactive game with Miyuki Kasahara. In 2021/22 were six Thamesmead Wonder Walks through every season. Thamesmead’s Best Beaks a quest to find the ultimate local bird was a residency in Stephen Turner’s Exbury Egg (2019). In 2020/21 J D also narrated and edited Thamesmead’s Best Beaks, an online radio series on RTM (Radio Thamesmead) and subsequently the series Thamesmead Wild Chorus seasonal highlights of his live stream from TUMP39. He is an associate of the InspiralLondon walking trail and is a supporter of the Save Crossness Nature Reserve campaign.
