How to release tickets to the waitlist

You can release tickets to people on your waitlist from the Manage page. Choose "Manage Waitlist" (under Order Options), select the people you want to offer a ticket to, and click the "Release Tickets" button. An email with a link to register is sent and the person needs to register within the “Time to Respond” you set in your Waitlist Settings to claim the spot (and ticket).

  • 1. Go to your event dashboard.

  • 2. Go to "Manage Waitlist" (under Order Options).

  • 3. Select people you want to offer a ticket to.

  • 4. Release tickets.

  • 5. Monitor tickets you've released.

1. Go to your event dashboard.

Event creators can log into their Eventbrite account here . Then select your event.

If your event is a recurring event, then click Select a date and time. Choose a date and time and select Continue.

2. Go to "Manage Waitlist" (under Order Options).

3. Select people you want to offer a ticket to.

On the Manage Waitlist page, review the list of people that signed up for the waitlist. Select the box next to their information.

TIP: You can add people to the waitlist by selecting "Add people to the waitlist". Then fill in their first name, last name, and email address.

4. Release tickets.

Click Release Tickets and confirm you want to release tickets to the selected individuals. Each entry on the waitlist equals one ticket to your event. If an attendee needs more than one ticket, manually add them to the waitlist and release tickets for each additional entry (or manually add them to your event).

NOTE: Releasing tickets to people on your waitlist is a manual process. Keep in mind that you can exceed your event's total capacity when releasing tickets, so be sure you can accommodate any attendees you release a ticket to.

5. Monitor tickets you've released.

When you release tickets, recipients of the email need to click the “Claim my spot” link to go to your event listing and register. You can check the status of any released tickets on the "Manage Waitlist" page.

  • Person registers and claims a spot (and a ticket) — entries for successful orders are removed from the waitlist. The person is now an attendee and a record of their order shows in various event reports.

  • Person doesn’t register in time — entries turn red if not claimed in time. The person isn’t an attendee and you have to follow the release process again for any expired if you still want to offer them a ticket.

TIP: You can only delete someone from the waitlist after the time remaining to respond has passed.

NOTE: The person can give their spot to someone else by entering different attendee information than their own when you release a ticket.
