Prevent attendees from sharing tickets

Prevent attendees from sharing tickets for in-person events by scanning their tickets. You can also check them in by name from a laptop or printed list. For online events, set up an online event page to host your event information. This page will only be accessible once attendees log in to their Eventbrite account.

In-person events

When you host in-person events, you can check in attendees a few different ways.

— Scan tickets

By default, each ticket comes with a QR code. You can download the Eventbrite organizer app to scan tickets to check them in. If a ticket has already been used, you'll see an error message when you scan it.

— Check in attendees by name

If you don't want to scan in tickets, you can check in attendees by name. You have two options:

If you check in attendees by name, consider updating your order form to collect information for each attendee. That way, every ticket has a different name on it.

Online events

When you create an online event, set up an online event page. Add what your attendees need to attend, like links to your webinar or instructions on how to attend.

By default, only attendees who log in with the account they used to register for your event will be able to see this page. Some video platforms will also let you restrict content or remove certain people. Refer to your preferred video platform for more information.
