The first 100 days of Trump's presidency is setting the bar on what to expect during the next four years. A key indicator on how far Trump is willing to go concerns his approach to China.

He started the second term by imposing new tariffs on Chinese imports - but not at the expected scale. That has since changed dramatically. In April, the U.S. administration launched an all-out trade war by imposing punitive tariffs of up to 145% on Chinese imports. Xi Jinping immediately responded with comprehensive measures targeting individual enterprises and volatile American sectors.

The big question now is whether common ground can still be found? Or is the world’s most significant trade relationship doomed? Could we even be moving towards a major confrontation between the world's two superpowers?
