About this event
IPAF presents: Twinning Mourning by Nina Lykke & A Ourø / A Kasakove
Twinning Mourning invites the audience to co-experience and contemplate mourning and loss from a dual perspective: through the poetry reading Vibrant Mourning by poet-philosopher Nina Lykke and through the dance performance Just ok by A Ourø / A Kasakove.
Vibrant Mourning and Just ok work their way through grief, death, and the absent presence of the lost. Nina Lykke has been a companion of the work by A Ourø / A Kasakove since the beginning of Just ok, spawning shared reflections on mourning. Working transversally across dance, poetry, theory, and philosophy, the twinning creates resonances between the two works.
About the Artists:
Nina Lykke is a poet, writer, and queer-feminist theorist as well as a professor emerita of gender studies at Linköping University, Sweden, and Aarhus University, Denmark. She has recently co-founded an international network for Queer Death Studies and took part in the building of intersectional feminist studies in Scandinavia and Europe more broadly for many years. Her poetry and current research focus on queer femme widowhood, cancer ecologies, death as vibrancy, intersectionality, and critical posthumanist ethics and aesthetics. She has, among others, published books such as Cosmodolphins (2000, co-authored with her life-partner Mette Bryld), Feminist Studies (2010), and Vibrant Death (2022).
A Ourø / A Kasakove is an artist duo residing in the field of dance and choreography. They work in close relationship to performance art venue Warehouse9, as well as Ställbergs Gruva/TNEC and Aaben Dans. Their work has been presented at these aforementioned venues as well as Dansehallerne, HAUT, KoncertKirken, Bådteatret, CPH STAGE among others.
They are co-founders of Dance Cooperative; a venue and dance studio for intersectional practices and work. Their duo holds years of companionship that carries traces of illness, chronic pain, death, grief as well as massive goofiness. As a duo they find it crucial to address varying matters of health and vulnerabilities in how work comes into being; allowing them to be present both in the bodies at and of work.
