About Katrina Stevens:
Katrina Stevens is the President and CEO of The Tech Interactive, a science and technology centre in San Jose that creates immersive and inclusive STEM education resources, to develop the next generation of problem-solvers locally, nationally and globally.
As an educator, administrator, ed-tech startup founder and policymaker, Stevens has focused on ways to create inspirational and impactful learning experiences for young people around the world. Before joining The Tech, Stevens was the director of learning science at the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, and during the Obama administration, Stevens was appointed to be deputy director in the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Educational Technology, where she led the Future Ready Schools movement to help district leaders implement best practices in digital learning.
About Petra Wadström:
Born and raised in Sweden, Petra Wadström is the founder and CEO of Solvatten, a social enterprise with the mission of providing people in developing countries with access to safe and hot water in a portable, environmentally friendly way. Petra began her career in the field of biochemical medical research, but after travelling and noticing the lack of safe water throughout the world, she leveraged her background in science and passion for art & design and invented the Solvatten portable solar safe water system.
Since founding Solvatten in 2006, Petra and her team have successfully distributed over 70,000 units, providing safe and hot water to approximately 450,000 people in over 40 developing countries throughout the world.
