The Index Award 2021

The only way we can predict the future is to design it.

Since 2005, The Index Award has been awarding and honouring designs from all over the world that improves lives for our Body, Home, Work, Play & Learning and Community: all the way from a bacteria-filtrating water straw to a habitat built for living on Mars.

Now more than ever, after almost two years of turmoil and uncertainty, we're all in dire need of coming together and discovering the ingenious, forward-thinking and life-improving designs that are building a better future. Taking us from where we are, to where we want to be.

Ticket

The ticket for the award is by donation only, at your own discretion.

We are a nonprofit and all our work is free for everyone.

The Index Project is supported by the community, for the community, to build a global index of sustainable solutions that is open and accessible to all.

Donating to us today, you will be helping our mission of mobilising and promoting designs that improve quality of life all around the world by sharing knowledge and education.

Programme

An evening gathering designers, entrepreneurs, dreamers, leaders and forward-thinking partners to celebrate #designtoimprovelife! We’ll showcase our inspiring finalists, and reveal the coveted winners for 2021!

We're also proud to feature Joe Gebbia – Co-founder of Airbnb as our guest of honour. Speaking publicly for the first time in Denmark, Joe will take to the stage as a platform to share insights as to how the world can become a better place for all through design. His keynote address will reflect on the great innovation embodied by this year’s and past winners of The Index Award and serve as a call to action for the next generation of creative minds.

Covid-19 Policy

We recommend that everyone attending The Index Award must present a negative Covid-19 test (no more than 72 hours old) or proof of vaccination (coronapas). Testing is free in Denmark and there are several Rapid Test Centres. Check our FAQ to find the nearest location for testing.

Filming and photography

Please take note that photographs and footage will be taken throughout The Index Award. These will be used by The Index Project for marketing and publicity in our publications, on our website and on social media. Your entry and presence at The Index Award event premises constitute your consent to be photographed and filmed.
