About this event

Silvers is a project of dinners hosted by the senior generation. To give people access to the authentic stories and knowledge of senior people. Based in Copenhagen.

Every Silvers Dinner is hosted by someone who has lived a full life (leading companies, writing stories, building communities, sailing the ocean, raising families, creating movements, travelling around the world) and wants to share what they have learned through time. Now, they open their homes for a few guests at a time to share a homemade meal and life inspiration.

This dinner takes place in a collective community in Roskilde, hosted by Marianne and Henning. The community was designed and built in 2009 with a focus on architecture and collective life, it has a waiting list of several years to join. It is inspired by research on housing for active seniors in Japan, the Netherlands, Canada and Denmark. It's a community designed and run by the people who live there.

You take a 30-minute train to Roskilde, followed by a short walk through the forest, and then you arrive. Before dinner, they’ll give a short tour and explain how the community works, then you will sit and share a homecooked meal over life conversations.

About Marianne and Henning:

Marianne and Henning have been married for over 50 years. They live in the collective by choice because they wanted this lifestyle. Marianne is known in the community for her cooking, especially Italian food, which she’s spent years learning and adapting. Their children live in Italy, so she also speaks some Italian. Henning is an educational leader who who enjoys showing people how the collective works: the shared spaces, the balance of the facilities, and the mix of independence and community.

They have been hosting company for many decades now, and they like to talk about food, life, and what makes a 50 year marriage work. For them, joy comes from small things done with quality.
