Conference

Quantitative models of cell metabolism enable scientists to explore and explain the molecular basis for homeostasis – the self-regulating processes evolved to maintain metabolic equilibrium. Studying homeostasis is relevant for the understanding and treatment of complex diseases, particular with the emergence of personalized medicine. It is equally important when we seek to repurpose the cellular machinery for the production of desired chemicals, materials and pharmaceuticals.

Recent advances in quantitative omics combined with the emergence of new strategies for formulating and fitting large-scale metabolic models have seen a resurgence of interest in kinetic modelling. This conference will explore ideas and novel methods in quantitative modelling that exploits the rapidly expanding volume of omics data. 

The conference brings together outstanding researchers working in quantitative modelling of cell metabolism, in order to stimulate knowledge exchange and collaborations between different research groups and expose the participants to state-of-the-art methods, tools and approaches.

Workshop

The conference commences with a half-day workshop on Maud, our recently developed software platform for modelling cell metabolism. The workshop will take place at the conference facilities on 21 September 2020 between 8:30 – 12:30. 

For organizational purposes, we would like to know how many researchers plan to participate. If you intend to join our workshop, please select this option when signing up to the conference.

Short talk

We have a limited number of spots for presenting a short talk during the conference. We will reimburse travel costs, to and from the conference, for those selected to present (up to 2000 DKK for train or flight costs within Europe and a bit more for longer journeys). If you want to be considered for a short presentation, please submit an abstract in the designated field when signing up.

The deadline is 16 August 2020. Participants will be notified regarding their abstract acceptance by 21 August 2020.

Poster presentations

We encourage all participants to present their research during our poster sessions. Posters will be exhibited throughout the conference and discussed during a poster session. The poster should fit a poster board size A0 (841mm × 1189mm) – portrait orientation. We will supply the boards including fixing materials. It will not be possible to print your poster at the venue. If you want to present a poster, please submit an abstract (max.1000 characters incl. spaces) in the designated field when signing up.

The deadline is 16 August 2020. Participants will be notified regarding their abstract acceptance by 21 August 2020.

Reimbursement of travel costs

We will reimburse travel costs, to and from the conference, for 20 young scientists presenting a poster at the conference (up to 2000 DKK for train or flight costs within Europe and a bit more for longer journeys). The grantees will be selected based on the quality of the submitted abstract. Preference will be given to MSc students, PhD students and postdocs. 

The deadline is 16 August 2020. Travel grant recipients will be notified by 21 August 2020.

Who can attend the conference?

The conference is open to participants of all career levels from student to professor.

Can I update my registration information?

Yes, just log in to Eventbrite. Please use this option also in the unlikely event that you need to cancel your registration.

How do I cancel my participation?

Please help us respecting our speakers and other participants, as well as keeping track of the numbers to optimize lecture and catering to the audience by cancelling as soon as you know that you exceptionally will not be able to make it. You can either cancel through Eventbrite or via email: cnmh @ novo.dk

Is it ok if the name on my registration doesn't match the person who attends?

No, since there will be name tags at the symposium, we ask that you do not give your spot to someone else without updating the registration information or letting us know via email.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

Public transport by S-train to Hellerup station (lines A, C, and E), and/or bus (1A, 21, 166) to Tuborg Boulevard (the closest bus stop to the venue).

We suggest using google maps or rejseplanen (www.rejseplanen.dk) for planning the trip and getting up to date schedules.

Regarding tickets, you can find all the information here. If you want to buy your bus ticket from the bus driver, make sure to carry cash.

If you are by car, you can park for free in front or at the side of Tuborg Havnevej 19. If that is full, there is 2 hours free parking in the parking lot of the Waterfront shopping mall at the end of the road.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

No, you do not have to bring a ticket, but registration is mandatory for participation.
