W e are excited to invite you to an evening of discussion on holistic well being at the workplace, with presentations from Barbara Jeffery from McKinsey Health Institute (MHI) and featured guest INSEAD Professor Gianpiero Petriglieri.

W e are delighted to have Barbara Jeffery, McKinsey Partner to present the latest findings from McKinsey Health Institute (MHI) research and article Reframing employee health: Moving beyond burnout to holistic health: The drive for short-term productivity and immediate goals can clash with sustained investments in employee wellbeing. However, reconciling these often conflicting values requires exercising adaptive leadership. “Leaders must navigate the tension between the immediate demands of organizational performance and profitability and the long-term health and flexibility needs of their workforce”.

After the presentation, we will open for round table discussion with Prof. Gianpiero Petriglieri over wine and snacks.

From this event, you should have a better understanding of burnout rates and well being status at work globally, interventions to combat burnout and ensure well being, as well as some reflections on humanizing leadership.

The evening will be hosted in the McKinsey offices in a beautiful meeting room.

Gianpiero Petriglieri is Associate Professor of Organisational Behaviour at INSEAD and an expert on leadership and learning in the workplace. He directs the Management Acceleration Programme , the school’s flagship Executive Education programme for emerging leaders, and is the Academic Director of the INSEAD Initiative for Learning Innovation and Teaching Excellence .

Gianpiero's award-winning research and teaching focus on what it means, and what it takes, to become a leader. He is particularly interested in the development of responsible leadership in the age of "nomadic professionalism," in which more and more people have deep bonds to work but loose affiliations to institutions, and authenticity and mobility have replaced loyalty and advancement as hallmarks of virtue and success.

B arbara Jeffrey is a partner in the London office and a leader in our People & Organizational Performance Practice in the UK. She focuses on delivering transformative organization journeys—journeys that change organizations and individuals as people and leaders.

Barbara has more than ten years of experience in organizational design, culture and change, leadership development, and HR function design in the context of transformations, mergers, separations and IPOs. Barbara also holds a BA in philosophy, politics, and economics from University of Oxford and an MBA with distinction from INSEAD. In addition to the article she will present at the event, she has published numerous articles on the topic of the employee burnout, prioritizing mental health in workplace and talent retention.
