Experience the art of Japanese calligraphy and Sumie drawing with CHIAKI, a Tokyo native calligraphy artist, in Azabu district of Tokyo. With over 8 years of experience teaching calligraphy internationally, she brings a fresh, modern touch to this traditional art form. In this workshop, you'll immerse yourself in basic strokes, Japanese characters, and explore writing as a creative expression using both traditional and modern techniques. The history and meaning behind calligraphy will also be covered. Create a special final piece on a traditional Japanese fan (Uchiwa) in your own style. Green tea and sweets will be served.

About CHIAKI

Based in Copenhagen and Tokyo. CHIAKI blends traditional Japanese Shodo calligraphy with contemporary art and design. Drawing inspiration from Japanese traditional artistic heritage, she explores new artistic expressions that go beyond tradition, reinterpreting calligraphy as an art form for the modern age in various forms with minimalist aesthetic. Her diverse cultural experiences shape her work, which has been presented in exhibitions, performances, lectures, and workshops across museums, galleries, and cultural institutions internationally.
