Experience Japanese calligraphy and Sumi-e drawing with Chiaki, the Tokyo native Calligraphy artist in Azabu district of Tokyo. With over 8 years of international teaching experience, she brings a fresh, modern perspective to these timeless traditional arts, transforming them into unique art forms of personal expression.

Join this workshop where you'll dive into the world of calligraphy and Sumi-e, exploring both techniques and the rich history behind them. As a special highlight, you'll have the opportunity to craft your own unique masterpiece on a traditional Japanese fan (Uchiwa), adding your personal touch. This is a special opportunity to connect with Japanese culture through art in Tokyo this summer. All materials are provided—just bring your curiosity and passion! No prior experience needed. Green tea and sweets will be served.

About CHIAKI

Based in Copenhagen and Tokyo. CHIAKI blends traditional Japanese Shodo calligraphy with contemporary art and design. Drawing inspiration from Japanese traditional artistic heritage, she explores new artistic expressions that go beyond tradition, reinterpreting calligraphy as an art form for the modern age in various forms with minimalist aesthetic. Her diverse cultural experiences shape her work, which has been presented in exhibitions, performances, lectures, and workshops across museums, galleries, and cultural institutions internationally.
