Nordic Energy Research welcomes you to two days of workshops and site visits on September 26–27th in Fredericia, Denmark.

The rationale behind the workshop is to gather representatives from local authorities, businesses and civil society to discuss challenges and opportunities for a rollout of Hydrogen, electrofuels, CCU and CCUS. Fredericia offers an interesting and inspiring example of how businesses and local authorities are joining forces to create industrial symbiosis and how citizen involvement has been integrated in this process. What are the takeaway lessons for other Nordic communities planning to create such value chains? What are prevailing challenges?The workshop is inspired by the recommendations from the report Hydrogen, electrofuels, CCU and CCS in a Nordic context. How can Nordic stakeholders, authorities and politicians contribute to increased production, distribution, and use of hydrogen, electrofuels and CCUS? The report also provides an overview of Nordic activities in this dynamic field.The aim of workshop is to offer a venue of informal and frank exchange of ideas that will be summarised and forwarded to relevant authorities in the Nordic countries. <h3>S﻿peakers:</h3>Tommy Rachlitz Nielsen is, among other things, responsible for Fredericia municipality's Strategy for sustainable development (Agenda 21), Climate Plan and Strategic energy plan. He is also member of the Board of Associated Danish Ports (ADP A/S) - a municipally limited liability owned company that owns and operates the Port of Fredericia and the Port of Nyborg, and operate the Port of Middelfart. Anders Horsbøl is Associate Professor at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, and at Department of Communication and Psychology. He participates in the Innovation Fund's green partnerships under the mission which deals with green fuels for transport and industry (Power-to-X). Søren Schmidt Thomsen is working with the fulfillment of the vision of making the Triangle area a Northern European center for green energy and PtX. He is engaged in the Triangle Energy Alliance (TEA) partnership, which represents seven municipalities and 16 companies. Per Møller is Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering in DTU. He is head of Symbiosis center Denmark. Per Møller is responsible for the facilitation and development of Industrial and Urban Symbiosis, including “Kalundborg symbiosen”. Nicolai Sørensen is Senior Strategic Advisor at Energinet. He works on Power-to-X and Hydrogen infrastructure. Before joining Energinet in 2015, he worked for The Danish Energy Association as a Policy Assistant. He holds a MA in International Studies, Globalisation and International Politics from Aarhus Universitet.Svend Søyland is Senior Adviser at Nordic Energy Research and specializes in the nexus between energy and climate. He is project leader for the Joint Nordic Hydrogen Research Program and Nordic Maritime Transport and Energy Research Program (NMTERP).
