About this event
Ethical AI – what you need to know and why it matters?
Who: Financial and fintech professionals working with and wanting to understand the implications of ethical AI.
The ethics of using AI and ML algorithms in every sector is coming under scrutiny, with three main areas of concern – accountability, transparency and data bias. These issues, however, are particularly thorny in the financial services arena, as a highly regulated industry with significant impact on people's lives.
In 2019, the High-Level Expert Group on AI presented Ethics Guidelines for Trustworthy Artificial Intelligence.
According to the Guidelines, trustworthy AI should be:
- lawful - respecting all applicable laws and regulations
- ethical - respecting ethical principles and values
- robust - both from a technical perspective and social environment
University of Copenhagen and Copenhagen Fintech are now kicking off a tailormade and targeted program for the financial and fintech industry in Denmark and beyond. This event will introduce you to the program and relevant research in the area from high ranked universities:
- University of Copenhagen (that have designed and will run the program) and
- Stanford and Cal Poly (that Copenhagen Fintech have previously funded a research project with in this area)
At this event you will be introduced to the research and findings from the project ‘Digital Responsible Leadership’. One of the exciting areas that Søren Juul Jørgensen will present at the event is the ‘Ethical Dilemma Library’. Together with a remarkable group of PhD and advanced level students from universities around the world, the project have explored the risk related to the use of technology in the financial sector using the ethical dilemma tool and challenge-based research in collaboration with industry and academia.
From the University of Copenhagen, you will meet the professors responsible for the program. They will present the different modules, topics that will be covered and the overall learning objective.
- Ken Friis Larsen, Deputy Head of Department for Teaching at Department of Computer Science, University of Copenhagen – DIKU.
- Henrik Palmer Olsen, Associate Dean of Research, University of Copenhagen, Faculty of Law.
- Mogens Steffensen, Professor, Head of section, Department of Mathematical Sciences, University of Copenhagen.
- Thomas Troels Hildebrandt, Professor, Head of the research section for software, data, people & society, University of Copenhagen.
We believe the potential for AI in financial services/fintech industry is massive. But if it is ever going to fulfill these aspirations it needs to be used in an ethical way. With the launch of this ambitious program for industry professionals and executives, we hope that not only can financial institutions successfully adopt AI today, but they can also put themselves in a better position to meet the ethical expectations and regulations of tomorrow as well.
Join us for this session to learn more about the what, the why and the how.
