The EU’s new ESRS could drastically change corporate sustainability – hear from Maersk and Danske Bank on how boards and CEOs can prepare.
About this event
The European Financial Reporting Advisory Group’s (EFRAG) recently released draft European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS) provide a glimpse of regulatory sustainability demands going forward. This webinar outlines what we see could be a seismic shift, where boards will assume significant responsibility for the agenda, and together with corporate strategy departments will need to both understand and act on sustainability to a degree unthinkable just a few years ago. Lene Bjørn Serpa, Head of Corporate Sustainability & ESG at A.P. Moller-Maersk, and Per Törnqvist, SVP at Danske Bank, will join us to discuss what this shift entails and what high-level managers need to prepare themselves for.
Sustainability integration into commercial strategy processes and deliberations are something many in the sustainability field have been advocating for decades. This may now become reality. The newly released draft European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS), basically the technical criteria under the EU’s Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CFRD), may signify a sea change in corporate sustainability work. Central shifts will include:
- Board-level responsibility for all material impacts around sustainability
- The shift towards impact materiality over financial materiality
- Mandatory business strategy integration of corporate sustainability responses
- Mandated revenue tie-in and product linkages, as well as material flow disclosures across a company’s entire value chain
In the webinar, we will discuss these shifts, their significance, and how managers can prepare. Joining us at Nordic Sustainability will be Lene Bjørn Serpa from A.P. Moller – Maersk and Per Törnqvist, SVP at Danske Bank, to provide their perspective on the dimension and key aspects of this transformation.
